Firstly broadband speeds are measured wrong so thats where most people get confused...1mb broadband is 102.4k download not 1mb download as its bits per second not bytes per second. True 1mb download speed is only likely if you were on 16mb broadband or faster.
so if you are getting 240k then your getting around 2mb of a 3mb speed which is acceptable speed as its rare you ever get the full speeds. Upload works the same way 50k upload is the normal upload speed for most broadband speeds below 8mb services.
