Duplicated mails in sent mailbox with Hotmail

I am getting 2 mails in my sent mail box on imac when using hotmail... not always done it but it is annoying now.... any ideas how I can get back to only one per mail sent... the receivers are only getting one mail ...

Is this happening when you login to Hotmail and download your mails or do you have Hotmail sync to your mac?

I am using hotmail in a Apple mail app on iMac which has Sierra OS. It only happens on sent messages when I get 2 in the sent mailbox but the receiver only sees 1..

This is a glitch with the mail app, sorry but I don't have the solution.

Please try it once

choose Mail > Preferences, click Accounts, then click Mailbox Behaviors.

(Mail stores messages in the mailbox so you specify for each option. )

If you select a mailbox on the mail server, the messages are available when you use your email account on another computer. Mail selects the best mailbox for your account; before choosing a different server mailbox, check with your email account provider.
If you select an On My Mac mailbox, the messages are stored on your Mac and are available only there.
