Hi,
To free up space in your mother's Hotmail account, you've to delete the emails completely. Use the search box to find all emails containing attachments, then select those emails to delete them. You can also delete emails in the sent, draft and junk folders, as well as old emails in the inbox.
Once you've deleted the unnecessary emails, there's a last thing to do. The emails sent to the trash are counted in the storage quota. In Settings > General > Storage, you can empty the trash immediately to regain space. Otherwise, the trash will be automatically emptied after 30 days.
