Mac keyboard adding numbers after letters

when I type 'q' on my Mac keyboard i get 'q1' Any ideas on how to fix this please?

It appears you need a new keyboard.

Thanks for the quick response. Unfortunately that's what I thought the outcome would be. Does anyone know why this happens? The keyboard is only 3 years old. I picked it up to clean it (filthy keyboard from now as I won't be doing that again) thanks again
