I have a windows 7 gateway, which I’ve had for about 6-7 years so far. This is the first time I’ve had this kind of problem with it. It gets past the logo screen, then it says “windows is starting services”, after which a pop up comes on saying it can’t finish installation, then goes to another screen saying “setup will continue after restarting computer “. Then the whole process repeats itself over and over. It won’t let me do anything with it, not even put it in safe mode.

Problems with a older laptop can often we traced to a failed or failing hard disk.

Given the age of the laptop, replacement might be your best option. Labor plus the cost of a new hard disk and a valid copy of windows will probably exceed the cost of a new laptop.

Good Luck
