Monitor showing a black see through shadow.

Hello,
I would like to get help with an issue with my HP monitor which is displaying a dark shadow over some part of the top of the screen. Everything works fine but it is just that the screen looks like it is extra dark.
Called HP Support, but nothing.
any ideas?

You can connect it to an external monitor. That will identify if it's a problem with the screen or the video card / software.
