My 20 year old Yahoo email account is not recognized

I was able to log in to my Yahoo email account 4 days ago, but when I went to log in yesterday and today, it told me that my email account "Is not recognized". When I tried to create an account with the identical address, it told me that the email was taken. (Everything I have is liked to this one email account.)

Can anyone help me figure out why that happened and how to get it back?

Hi

After 12 months of inactivity Yahoo accounts are deleted from the server and they no longer exist, hence they can't be recovered. Once an email address is created, even if the account no longer exist, it cannot be duplicated.

Sorry but that's the way the cookie crumbles.

I used the email account less than a week ago. It's attached to a lot of other things as well.
