Thanks for the follow-up,
You can't open a gmail account address without confirming via a txt msg.
This is similar to other email suppliers.
I'm doing this research for my girlfriend who doesn't want anything mobile or social !
I got her a Samsung tab, but it wants an email address to register the device before I can go on the internet.
