Switching DVD drive for hard drive
Closed
Hello,
i switched the sata cables from my DVD drive to my new internal hard drive since i ran out of sata ports. when i turned on the computer, it still shows that i have a second DVD drive and doesn't recognize the new hard drive. what can i do to fix this (other than the obvious by getting more ports)?
Thanks,
DragonKing

The new drive will not show in Explorer until you partition it and format it.

my second hard drive (the one causing the issue is my 3rd) was automatically detected by windows and i was asked to format it if i wanted to use it for windows... i'm not particularly sure how to do it now that windows didn't detect it...
also i read up on another topic here (one about installing a second hard drive) and in Computer Management, it still shows my old DVD drive which is now disconnected...
thanks for the reply!
