my laptop is LENOVO IdeaPad 5 15IIL05, 64bit, Windows 10 Home, build 19043.1415

I ALWAYS use NUM-LOCK; I NEVER toggle it OFF to be redundant cursor keys.
I always accidentally bump the NUM-LOCK key and toggle to cursor keys.
I curse a lot ( I actually think that's why they call them curse-or keys)

I have looked high and low for a way to lock into NUM-LOCK - ALWAYS ON, can't turn it off, no way, no how, can't toggle it into the cursor mode if you tried.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated in advance,
m

Hi,

I've found some solutions on Microsoft's forum.

Note: Before performing the following steps, backup the Windows registry. To do so, in regedit, right-click on Computer and select Export.

Enable Num Lock at startup from the registry :
  • Press the Windows + R keys at the same time,
  • Type regedit and press Enter,
  • Navigate to HKEY_USERS\.Default\Control Panel\Keyboard,
  • Change the value for InitialKeyboardIndicators from 0 to 2.

Download SharpKeys to make Num Lock always on :
  • Download SharpKeys from this link.
  • Configure it like this:
    • From: Special: Num Lock (00_45)
    • To: Turn Key Off (00_00)
  • Select Write to Registry and restart your computer.

Hope this helps.

Good luck
