If someone live streams to Instagram (or Facebook) is that footage automatically saved/stored/archived there?

Hi,

Yes, it's the case for Instagram. Live stream you share is automatically saved in your Live Archive. However, it will only be archived for 30 days, then deleted. To save a copy, it is possible to download it.

For Facebook, you can go to Videos > Your Videos to retrieve your live stream if you haven't deleted it. You can also save it on your computer.

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

I mean for the person who records the live stream. If you're the viewer, it won't be saved in your archive. The OP must republish their live stream to their feed so that people can watch it again.

And yes, Facebook saves live streams automatically, unless the OP choose to delete it. Anyone can watch it again by visiting the profile page of the person who had broadcast the live stream.

Thanks for your reply.

Regarding "Live stream you share" (is automatically saved in your Live Archive),

does "you share" mean that a live stream with at least one live stream viewer?

is a viewer a sharer?

In regard to Facebook "to retrieve your live stream", so that would mean that FB automatically saves/stores it?

Many thanks again for your replies.

So, live streams to Instagram (or Facebook) are automatically saved/stored/archived to the originating Live Streamer's account. Correct?

Absolutely - yes! However, I add that for Instagram, the option to automatically save live streams is turned on by default on all accounts, but it can be turned off in the settings if an user doesn't want to keep a copy in their archive.
