Unable to detect harddrive

Hello,
I am unable to format my C drive on which windows xp is installed the hard disk is not getti ng detected
One partition where my linux is installed everything is working fine when try to install windows the partitions are not getting detected other than for linux please give me some solution.

Dear Sir,

You will have to use the linux CD to format the c: partition,

Do not forget to format it on NTFS file system!

I tried using linux cd but it didnt work Any other solution please........
