Hp dv6 laptop chanced to xp pro /startup prob

Hello, I had to have my new hp dv6 pavilion downgraded to xp pro to run my diagnostick program for the toyota vechiles i manage for a company in Nigeria.Programs are wery slow and every time I shut my laptop off I need to run the complete startup check before my programs will appear or it gives me the main screen.Can you please assist me with a means of checking if the changes and settings was made correctly.
