Dell 1525 shut down problem possibly solved

Hello,
This quite possibly may settle this issue. Due to overheating, the system shuts down. To fix this, simply remove the heatsink and clean off the remaining paste from the chip and the heatsink. Replace it with arctic silver which can handle a lot more heat than the paste they use. You basically fix it like a rrod xbox 360 for those who are familiar. Good luck, so simple. A caveman can do it.

Hello,

this is the only solution but he should be very careful when opening the laptop to clean inside

So i'll advise him to take the laptop to be fixed by a qualified technician
