Gateway laptop LED turns on but doesn't boot

Hello,
Battery is charged, LED turns on, but a blank screen. Laptop is only 18 months old, with very little use. Any easy ideas for the computer challenged..

Hi there,

if there is any media in the drive

remove it as well as other devices attached to it like

usb disk etc..then reboot the machine

or press & hold F8 when booting
