Hello,

I have a Linksys Router WRT54G. Havn't had many problem with it until I had to replace my computer recently. When I hooked up my new computer the router stopped working. I called Linksys who would not help unless I paid them so I called att and they told me the same. Apparently att doesn't support the software. I noticed my router address is 192.168.1.101 rather then 192.168.1.1. I have reset my router and it hasn't changed. I can't get to the set up page because when I hook up my router the internet explorer page will not open. Can you help me with this first step as well as configuring the router to work with the netopia modem.

ok, from those details:

your computer ip address is 192.168.1.101
your linksys router (gateway) is 192.168.1.1

your computer is getting its ip address automatically by the dhcp server (which is your router)

Try this:

shut down all your equipment, turn off your modem and router.

after about 30 seconds or so, turn on your modem. wait a while until it has gone through initialization and reset itself. when all lights are on that should be, Turn your router on. again wait for it to go through the initialisation process. (about 30-60 seconds or so). when all lights are on that should be turn on your computer.

when it has finished booting up, open a explorer window. (internet explorer will do)
in the address box, type 192.168.1.1 and enter.
if all went well you should get the login screen for your router.
if you get that, you could then try a Google search to see if anything comes back.

If that does not work, try the following:

OK,
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
try this,

Configure a TCP/IP Connection

1. Choose Start➪Network.

2. In the resulting window, click the Network and Sharing
Center link.

3. In the resulting Network and Sharing Center window,
click the Manage Network Connections link.

4. In the resulting window, right-click a connection and then choose Properties.

5. In the Connection Properties dialog box, click the Networking tab

6. On the Networking tab, in the This Connection Uses the Following Items area, select the Internet Protocol
Version (TCP/IP) option and then click the Properties button. Be sure that the latest version of the TCP/IP
is selected, even if earlier versions are also available and selected.

7. In the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties dialog box that appears , allow addresses to be assigned automatically. Select the Obtain an IP Address Automatically option and then click OK twice.

To repair a connection

1. Choose Start➪Network.

2. In the resulting window, click the Network and Sharing Center link.

3. In the resulting window, click the Manage Network Connections link.

4. In the Network Connections window, right-click the connection and then click the Diagnose button.

5. A diagnostic runs and displays a window with suggestions about how to repair your connection
Click a suggestion to perform the action, and then click the Close button to close the dialog box (for example,
resetting the network adapter). If the suggestion is an action you must perform, such as plugging in a cable,
do so.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

if that goes as planned we will look at getting your wireless settings for you.
fingers crossed
