Merging databases

Hello,
(First time user so please bear with me)
I'm trying to merge two database files. One is the master file with names and addresses etc. the other file to be linked has the data for the dates that the people in the first file visited the attraction. Is there an easy way to marry these two files together so that I can produce a master database file with the dates visited next to the correct person (complete with blanks if they have not visited)?

you have to use vlookup function. if one sees the configuration of the two sheets the solution can be given. Thee are lot of references in google search
