Missing registry file Closed

Hello,
I have a Windows XP Home OS. I got a virus or something the other day. Since I have cleaned up problems that the security(McAfee) found. I noticed that I am unable to use the taskmgr pgm. When I looked online many suggestions were to enter the registry and change the  "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System" file. I went to the registry and the file is no longer there. Can it be recreated or fixed so I can use the taskmgr pgm?

Please use Ccleaner which fix your registry files

you can go to control panel and do a system restore to an earlier date
