Hello,

I Have a Compaq Presario V6000.
Was on my laptop one night fell asleep woke up tried to turn it on when i got the message

"Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt": \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM

Then the stuff about repairing it with a setup cd.Where ever i got it only has information about using a floppy disk as a setup boot disk.My laptop doesn't have a floppy drive.First time i am having this problem.Usually i am very IT capable but this one is really really brain tickler.

Either information on how to create a cd would be useful or just really good links that would me good for my situation.I am using my other Computer to do this.

Thanks for the help.

Dear,
I don't know whether your cd rom is working or not. But if not then you can use a pen-drive to setup newly WINXP or to repair. First You have to copy the winxp into the pen-drive then connect it and restart your laptop, after that if the laptop not find the pendrive in booting time then please enter into the system by pressing delete/F3,F2, >change the boot configuration > Boot priority> first boot>USB port, pen drive. If you use cd rom to repair or install a new copy of windows then give the first boot> CDrom. When the windows shows "Press any key to boot from...." in opening of windows then press any key to start the setup. Hope, that will solve your problem.
