Wont accept my recovory disks

Hello, I've got a HP Desktop. the problem started off i was updating my vista and the computer shut down. due to the fact i was downloading updates i suppose im told anyhow that when you have this problem of downloading updates and your CPU shuts down..... you've got trouble. what happend was it got stuck in a loop when i restarted it. first was Windows did not shut down properly. started on all modes (safe. adv. normal. ect). didn't work would go to the boot up page then go back to the first error of windows was not ..... now i brought it in and they did a diagnostics for me for $20. I have the recovery disks but.... its not loading it just sets on a black screen. WHAT DO I DO?
