Hello,

I really need help. I am working on my step dad's Acer. He has windows XP. He likes porn and hasn't realized that he infects his computer with his browsing. Here is what it is doing. Programs won't run, a run.exe error keeps popping up. I can't access system restore, says that I am not admin when that is the account I am working off of. When I finally got clamwin downloaded it wouldn't allow me to open it. I also can not open the windows "regedit" from the run option in the start menu. I have ran avg on every file that I can think of, when it moved the infections to the vault I moved them to the trash and then dumped it. I am at my wits end. Oh, I forgot to mention that it will not boot in safe mode at all. The malware I have located are spoolsv.exe and fastsrvnet.exe, with everything that I have done these two still haven't been removed. Please HELP!

Thanks,

With multiple virus infections it may be time to do a clean install of Windows. Short of that you might look a the free malware scans you can get with Malwarebytes.org

Good Luck

Okay, I have an XP disk from my mom's computer, but the disk says it is for HP. Will that XP disk work on the Acer? I have all the Acer disks and none of the are for the XP home edition. And would the new windows mini work better for this computer? Here are the specs.

Celeron M 370
1.5 GHz
60GB HDD
512MB DDR2

I have a mac, and though I have worked on windows it has been awhile that I have had to deal with problems like this. Thanks so much!

No the HP disk will probably not work with the Acer.

Thanks.
Just one more question. I know how to wipe and restart my mac. How do you do that with Windows?

Thanks again

There is a option to format the disk when you install Windows.
