I cannot hear voice in my laptop

Hello,
I have a Compaq presario Laptop and Windows Vista as an operating system.
I am having a problem while calling people through Yahho MSN etc. I have a microphone and the person i call can hear me but i am unable to hear anything the person says. My sound works and i can hear songs and other sounds.
Kindly Help.

go to control panel >
sound and audio devices properties>
audio tab>
press on volume and raise the sliders in mixer
unmute if muted for wave
