NO SOUND/AUDIO ON MY COMPUTER

Hello,
so i tried to download this so that i could have sound on my computer again.
but it said that it failed because i did not have a "media" device.
what the heck does that mean??
ughh i'm so frustrated i wish my sound would work.
it did like 30 minutes ago.
what do i do to get a media device?
