I can't watch certain videos

I am having trouble watching certain videos that are sent to me in emails and on websites. This all started after I downloaded IE version 8. I deleted 8 and went back to 7. This didn't help either so I went back to 8. This is the same problem described by Joey in Mar of 09. Everyone I have asked about this either doesn't answer or gives an answer that doesn't work. Please, please someone help!

Dear Honu,

Please consider updating your Flash Player to the latest version.

This will definitely solve the matter. Nevertheless consider

checking the format of the video that are not playing and hence

download an appropriate program to open the video on it.
