Hello, I just bought my aspire 4376z last nov.3, 2009. my problem is that I want to install xp on it instead of vista but when i ran the set-up for xp, my laptop displayed blue screen and then an error message telling me that the set up can't go through. i really want to install xp on it since i use programs that are not compatible with vista..

Please help!!!

Thank you..

hello, i've tried that already but thanks anyway.. I have decided to install vista since the xp does not work.. My problem is that I can't activate it.. Do you have any idea how to activate it except buying new product key?. I tried using the activator which was from a friend of mine but it doesn't work on my laptop.. I am really desperate right now since I am using my laptop for my undergraduate thesis but my OS will last only up to 30 days.. (ACER ASPIRE SERIES 4736z)

Please Help!!!

Thanks.

Hi Dear<

It's your lucky day today, cause i just figure it out this morning that the problem really is?
I also bought the same model too, and its pre-loaded with Linux OS. Just follow this step.

Hopes it will work on yours too.

1. Boot your laptop and press F2 (after the Welcome Logo appears) to enter BIOS setup
2. On the menu screen press the -> <- arrow control and go to MAIN tab menu.
3. Use the up & down control and go to SATA Mode sub menu.
4. Press ENTER and change its value to IDE, (use up and down arrows to select) and press enter.
5. Press F10 to save and exit.
6. Insert your XP bootable CD and reboot your laptop.
7. Select a format with NTLR support (not quick option) if prompted.

Good luck, hope this will help you.

You have to go to BIOS and disable SATA while installing Windows XP. After you have finished installation, you can install the SATA drivers.
