im sorry, that's what it does, erases all viruses, part files, everything you added, so it is a good thing, next time make a disk of the stuff you want to keep, because it is the only practical way to recover it
i got a friend that has a file on his computer with all the files i want to keep for me to download off him if i reinstall windows, it is the hard way but it is a way to do it as well.
(your stuff is gone forever, you have to accumulate everything all over again)

Erinlove is correct, once you reinstall windows it breaks all programs, and if you selected reformat, then everything is gone for good. And if you did not reformat, as far as windoze is concerned it is not there either. The only way is to take it to a computer recovery shop to get any data off the harddrive.
