Update problems with vista

Hello,
I have a hp dv6500 which i used out where there is no internet connection. Recently i connected it to the internet and and it say that it needs updating, so i clicked on the icon and it updated fine. Then it askes me for restart, so i click on button for restart. upon restart windows vista could not restart, even after using the recovery option..
ANY IDEAS????
