Mac with Plasma hook up but no audio

Hello, I connected my Macbook to my Plasma 52 inch, using an adaptor and HDMI cable. I don't have audio to my Plasma without hooking up additional cable for Audio. I'm using a jack from my mac to a receiver on Aux.
My question is if I am using a HDMI cable where is my Audio?

If your using a DVI to HDMI adapter then you will not have an audio signal to the TV. Only computers with an integrated HDMI port and the proper audio hardware will have sound on the HDMI port.
