HARDDRIVE IS NOT WORKING

Hello,
i have comstar hard drive 750 GB.the problem is that when i connect to electric outlet,it shows light in side but there is no noise is coming from hard drive which usually comes.it do not show in my computer that hard drive is connected.i donot know what to do.will any one can guide me please.thanks.

you mean the light on the hard drive?

please give more information

and is it an external hard drive?
