4gb memory not

Hello,

ive just upgraded my pc with 4gb kingston memory but in windows vista i can only see 3gb appearing what is the matter? i dont think that one of the ram isnt good as its two modules of 2gb each and if one wasnt good then it would show only 2gb and not 3gb..

please help me in this issue?

hello dude,

in theory windows vista can accept 4gb ram but in practice when its done only 3gb will be noticed available

but no worries as windows is using the 4gb its only the display of 4gb which is affected

you have to upgrade your windows to 64bit version

The problem is that you have to use a 64 Bit Operating system to be able to utilize the full 4 RAM. Otherwise will only use approx 3 to 3.5 gigs of RAM. You can upgrade I believe to Vista home 64 or to Vista Ultimate Operating system. Check with Vista/Microsoft or your computer manufacturer.
