cant use icons, cant right or left clickClosed

Hello,
Hi there.... a new thing... I cant click on any of the icons on my desktop. I've checked the touchpad settings, all is well. I ran the virus software (AVG) and Windows Defender... nothing. What can I try? Clicking on things on the internet works, just the desktop isnt working at all. I can click on the toolbar at the bottom. Thanks so much for your help!
