Hard disk Not Found F3 to Quit

Hello,
I have an hp laptop which i formatted. When installing the win xp service pack 2 it gives
a message that i check the hard drive, it cant see the harddrive or the hard drive is not powered, press f3
to exit

Hi there,

You need to disable sata/native mode in bios,follow the instructions given on link below from kioskea Faq:

https://ccm.net/faq/2370-downgrade-from-windows-vista-to-xp-hdd-s-ata-not-recognized

why? what the problem f3 install o/s ..what is problem hdd - or connector
