Linksys wrt542 router

Hello,
I have been using a Huawei 1502 FWT CDMA modem for high speed access of internet through a D-connector to USB cable and on to my Dell Laptop. I tried to connect a Linksys wrt54g2 WIRELESS ROUTER but unable to rig up the system to working status. Pl help me.
