Hello,
I need help. When we start my husbands Dell Inspirion 6400 it says that he needs to reinstall the software. We have the software to do it, however we have 5 years of pictures on here and haven't backed them up (dumb, I know). Is there anyway to get them before we do that. We do not have a ton of cash and are looking for an easy fix.

Thanks.

Well why would it say that you need to install a software? What is the exact message. It must have a USB port, so you could use some external hard drive or usb sticks to make the make backups.

You have two options:
1. buy a USB external hard drive adapter - remove the hard drive and use another PC to copy the data
2. use a Bootable Linux CD and copy the data to a USB drive

here is a link to a site with instruction for the Linux solution
