Hello,

I was running utorrent, and just before bed, I went to shut down the computer, and it took ages to shutdown. So I forced shutdown the computer. The next morning, when I tried to turn on the computer, my primary HDD won't detect. I have two HDDs connected into my motherboard vis SATA, (not REID), the second HDD and my DVD rom(also SATA) are detected, but the one with OS (Windows XP) somehow won't detect. I have checked all the cables, swapped them with my secondary HDD, took it out and connected to my brother's comuter, even tried it on my portable casing via USB hub... Nothing.

I know the power is on, because, when I first start up the computer, the HDD will make a little running spinning noise for a second or so, and it vibrates when the power is on.

Is there anyway I can recover the data from this HDD?

Since you tried the drive in another computer I suspect you will not be able to recover data from the drive. Did you look in the BIOS to see if it detects the HD. Some of the newer BIOS's can run a SMART check of the drive and give you an idea of what wrong.

Good Luck
