Windows XP does not have the driver for the SATA controller that is on your HP laptop. You will need to "slipstream" the driver into the Windows CD using the "nlite" program. That is just the beginning for your problems. XP does not have drivers for any of the hardware on the motherboard and HP does not provide them either. Google "slipstream" and "nlite" for more information. My suggestion is to install Windows 7.
