External Harddrive does not function.

Hello,
I accidentally dropped my external harddrive and it really took a bad fall. After that i did try to connect it to my laptop but it does not detect the drive. Also, the led on the harddrive does lit up but, thats it . . . no detection. Can you help me fix this problem or atleast recover the files stored in the drive.

negative on both issues. The hard drive and its files are beyond repair.
