Hp dv1000 - no sound after windows 7

Hello,

I just installed windows 7 on my hp dv1000 laptop. windows works flawlessly....BUT NO SOUND!!!! Help ! I tried dl-ing some of these drivers recommended, but during install I get this message...."Driver installation failed, could not find the media device for this driver"

I was told to dowload a universal bus driver from windows, did that and the driver did not install itself either!!!!
it says "hpqnt.dll.failed please help. I need sound.
