Some Programs Shut Off By Itself

Hello, last night, my computer shut down because of heat, so i let it cool down. The next morning i wake up and it's working normally, but then, after a half hour to an hour, some programs start to shut down. For example, my AIM would just turn off by itself, the a few min. later firefox would shut down by itself. Do you know anyway i can fix this problem?

You need to solve the problem with overheating. If it's a desktop can you clean inside to remove dust. If it's a laptop can yo buy a laptop cooling pad with fans or try to blow out any dust.
