How to format hard disk by using recovery DVD

Hello,
i'm unable to format my system by using recovery DVD.i'm using toshiba M100 satelite laptop.whenever i insert recovery DVD in DVD ROM and restart the system the system did not respond anything..i'm unable to format my system..plz help me..plz tell me how should i format my system..

Where can find that acpi in the bios?.....

just try to disable the acpi mode in the bios options and after that retry to setup the windows using the recovery cd and just post an add after if its successful or not?
