Sony walkman mp3 changed folder??

ive recently been having trouble with my sony walkman mp3 player. when i plug it into the computer the "found new hardware" bubble pops up and the autoplay function prompts as the one i use for my camera instead of the usual "sync" one. when i go under 'my computer' the mp3 is found under "devices with removale storage" in the E: drive as WALKMAN instead of under "portable devices" with the name i gave it.
ive tried unintalling it using the device manager...but the problem still occurs. ive been searching for answers but none seem to work.
the computer still recognizes the mp3...its just in another folder in my computer. also when i try to sync music to it, the files will sync but they appear on the player as "unknown".
please help and tell me what i can do to fix this and get it back to the way it used to be!!
