I see my file folders as applications

I see my file folders as applications in my system drives when i arrange them as type.

I have tried re-installing windows in my system but this has not solved the problem.

What is making this happen and how can this be resolved.

F2 key use to change the ________ of file/folder. *

Did you make clean format the hard drive or install on existing version?Please specify.

I did make a full format of C drive not the other drives on the Hard disk and re-installed the OS WinXP.
