Dvd rom not working/showing on laptop

i have hp pavilion dv4000 laptop. Yesterday I played a cd on it , it made some unusual sound, but the cd was played normally. The next time I wanted to play another cd /dvd it is not working. Also on my computer option , the sentence DVD-ROM is not coming on the laptop screen. Also i searched the control panel and programme file but could not found dvd-rom any where. Also the the slot for dvd/cd on the key board is not opening manually. please help me to find the soluation.

Hi there,

Unplug your laptop from adapter,remove battery and at back of laptop just over the cd drive there is a screw remove it and pull off the cd drive,start laptop without it then make a shutdown and reseat cd drive and start machine,it must be detected else reset also bios.
