Hard disk not recognised by bios

Hello, I am diptiman.I face a problem regarding hard disk.My bios cant recognise my sata hard disc.Hard disc is new,no operatng system loaded.When I want to load xp service pack 2 after setup option a message displayedf i.e your hdd cant find....When my old hdd was working I cant format then also for the problem of recognisation.
Please tell me what to do ???

my hard disk(seagate) ide port not a sata but not recoginised in bios i cant format because my important data is there , but tell me how to open the data please suggest...

1. remove the hd from ur pc
2. change jumper from master into slave
3. insert ur hd now in a friend's pc or in an another pc
4. u will now be able to read all data in ur hd

U have 2 check the connection of HDD means it connected properly or not [SATA has different settings to connect u know it]....& if u hav already tried any settings abt HDD in BIOS den only !!!

why not properly dedect seagate hard disk & not partition create.

You can use Win98 tpye disk...
and you can create Ms-dos...
then install windown 98 ....
then upgrade to Window xp
