Cursor jumps from one line of typing to anoth

When typing in emails or word document, cursor jumps around in the document to previous text and continues typing. When going back to where the cursor should be I find it difficult to get the cursor to go in the exact space where last typed, need to get the cursor to go a space or two before where I need to recommence typing.

Any ideas??
