Trouble with Linksys Router BEFW11S4

We have a strong signal on the Linksys wireless connection but cannot get to the Internet. Everything is connected as told to me by the customer support at our cable company but still can't get to the Internet unless the wireless is turned off. I'm getting a message : "The network didn't assign a network address to the computer" How can I correct this issue. Thanks in advance for help!
