My computer wont load my desktop

Hello,

i have a problem with my desktop it wont load up.. it just starts at the username and password stuff, then an antivirus like shield just scans my c drive then it wont let me in.. also can you tell me how to initiate the systems restore program manually? pls i am at a loss here..

Start-Programs-Accessories-System tools-System restore

and you can roll it back to the state when everything worked fine
