My sony vaio will not recognise dvds or cds!!

My sony vaio will not recognise dvds or cds, i have tried a few of the suggestions in the forum, any ideas?? The disc goes round and round but it does not come up in my computer, i have reinstalled the driver, no luck, help!

Please consider checking whether the lens is working properly or not. The actual problem might be coming from it being damaged.
