How did you learn to program?

Hi everybody,
I am learning to program in c, and i have some questions:
What should I do to learn to program in c faster?(what you recommend, writing the programs you do in your noteBook, practice in the pc..)
how did you learn to program in c?
Do all you use books to learn?
