What to do when ipod is disconnected?

Disconnected before ejecting. I plugged it back in, but now it only shows the apple logo, turns off, and the apple logo appears again, turns off, etc. However, when this happens to most people it happens when it's not plugged in, but mine is plugged in because there was no battery life left, so I can't change it to disk mode etc. Any suggestions that wouldn't be on the apple website (since I've tried them all) would be great. I think the biggest problem is the fact that it's not charged at all.
